Community based services includes a board range of health-related services such as prevention and health promotion, acute and chronic medical care, habilitation and rehabilitation, direct and indirect services provision, an orientation to collective health needs in homes, workplace and community agencies.

The overall goal in community health is to help people develop the skills and obtain the supports necessary for independent, productive living , particular emphasis in given to intervention that result in improved quality of life and decreased hospitalization.

Community occupational therapy services are divided into 5 primary categories:

Treatment, assistive technology, maintenance, files review, referrals.
